Chicken Skewer Appetizer Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs), cut into 1-inch cubes or strips

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon honey

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)

  • Wooden or metal skewers

  • Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Soak skewers: If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning.

  2. Prepare marinade: In a large bowl, mix olive oil, soy sauce, lemon juice, garlic, honey, paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, and oregano (if using).

  3. Marinate chicken: Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, toss to coat well, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (up to 2 hours for more flavor).

  4. Preheat grill or broiler: Heat your grill or broiler to medium-high.

  5. Assemble skewers: Thread the marinated chicken onto skewers, leaving a little space between each piece for even cooking.

  6. Cook: Grill or broil the skewers for 8–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks.

  7. Serve: Arrange the skewers on a platter, sprinkle with fresh parsley or cilantro, and serve with lemon wedges.

Tips & Variations

  • Add vegetables like bell peppers, onions, or cherry tomatoes to the skewers for extra color and flavor.

  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, such as tzatziki, garlic aioli, or a spicy yogurt dip.
